Before you begin:
- You'll need your Medicare card number and individual reference number (the number next to your name on the card).
- Make sure your name recorded with myGov matches your name on your Medicare card. If there's a mismatch, you might need to update one or the other.
There are two ways to link your Medicare card:
1. Using your Medicare card details:
- Sign in to your myGov account at https://my.gov.au/.
- Select "Link your first service" or "View and link services".
- Choose "Medicare" from the list of services.
- You might be asked to agree to myGov storing your personal information. Select "Continue" if you agree.
- Choose "I'm listed on a Medicare card" and click "Next."
- Enter your Medicare card number and individual reference number.
- Select "Next" and follow any further prompts to complete the linking process.
2. Using a linking code (if available):
- Follow steps 1-3 above (signing in and selecting Medicare).
- Choose "I have a linking code" and click "Next."
- Enter your Medicare card number and the linking code you received from Medicare.
- Select "Next" and follow any further prompts to complete the linking process.
